I could have named this post miscellaneous or what I did so I chose the later. Brooke, Alex, and I all wore orange on the same day. Brooke decorated her cute pumpkin she got at her school field trip. Alex is now sitting in our laps to read at bedtime. And Alex really likes it when he wakes up an hour early and Daddy is already at work because Mommy lets him play in our bed while she gets dressed and ready.
Stockley Garden Fine Art Festival
One of our all time favorite events is the Stockley Garden Fine Art Festival. Brooke knows it as the ‘art and honey’ festival because at the end of the festival I get my local creamed honey from the wonderful people at Horseshoe Point. We enjoyed the beautiful exhibits and danced as a family to the live music.
Park Playtime
The fall weather has been crisp and beautiful and so Brooke, Alex, and I have been spending a lot of time having fun at the park. (And some general Alex mischievousness sprinkled in.)
Virginia Arts Festival Date Night
We planned a date night to go to the Chrysler Museum glass blowing performance art night (combines glass blowing and music) but ended up not even making it to the show because we stumbled upon the Virginia Arts Festival on the same night. We started at the main Chrysler enjoying the exhibits and live jazz music and then ended up in several eclectic small art studios and one which was a mixed media studio exhibit area/night club. We got to feel cool even when we were obviously the most suburban people there.
Laura’s Inlet Run
I have heard about two new areas that can make some good hiking and today I went on a solo run to scope out one of them to see if would be a good hiking area for our family. The area is on an inlet off of Shore Drive and they opened lots of trails and an environmental center very recently. It was a beautiful run and hopefully we can all go as a family soon.
