Alex and Mommy’s Staycation

AJ and Brooke headed to Florida for a visit and because we weren’t sure that Alex would be able to travel yet, he stayed home with me.  We got some alone time mother/son bonding and it was fun to spend time with him at a time in his life which I was one on one with Brooke at the same age.  We had a blast!  We spend several days at the pool, I took Alex to the beach but it got rained out and so we played on the playground and I made it up to him by seeing the animals at the farm and letting him enjoy some chocolate ice cream, went out to dinner, we went to a Norfolk street fair, and he got to work in some cooking (something Brooke usually monopolizes).  We both had a lot of fun but were very happy to see Brooke and Daddy when they got home!

Brooke and Daddy Visit Ammy and Papa in Florida

Brooke and I got to go to Florida for a long weekend to visit Ammy, Papa and other family there.  We had a really nice trip visiting with everyone.  Brooke especially liked going to the Jungle Gardens with Ammy and playing with Skippy.

8 Year Wedding Anniversary

We went to dinner on our 8 year wedding anniversary at Waterman’s on the beach, ate outside, and I talked AJ into walking on the beach a bit.  I am happy to say that after 8 years of marriage and 13 years together we are still laughing!  I hope for many more years!

Father’s Day

This Father’s Day was a chill one for AJ because unfortunately he was sick the day before.  We started the morning off with him sleeping in and having a breakfast of a cheese omelet with chives from our garden, fruit, and real bacon.  Then he opened his second father’s day gift- rain boots!  He received a new prana swimsuit before our Sandbridge vacation as part one of his gifts.  We went to Five Guys for burgers for lunch, played in the back yard, and had dinner on the patio with ‘CHEESE!’ for dinner.  Happy Father’s Day AJ!  You are an amazing dad!

Zucchini From Our Garden

Our garden has taken off in leaps and bounds yielding: zucchini, strawberries, onions, and cucumbers.  This is a picture of our first zucchini harvest followed by many more which necessitated giving them to several neighbors to share the wealth.  AJ says we can only have one zucchini plant next year because they are so high yield.  We are still waiting on our carrots and bell peppers to be ready a little later in the summer.  There is nothing as satisfying as going into your backyard to gather vegetables for dinner.
