Brooke went to swim class yesterday, and had a blast. Allison was in town visiting and snapped some photos and videos of us in the pool with Brooke.

Laura was able to catch Brooke on video clapping for the first time. She continues to amaze us every day with her new talents.

This was Brooke’s first Christmas, and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. We all were able to spend it together, and Oma and Opa were able to come out and visit as well. Brooke loved opening gifts on Christmas Day, sometimes playing with the wrapping paper was the best part – maybe a cheap alternative to gifts next year for her? She got everything she wanted, except her top front teeth. It was a nice week we had visiting with Oma and Opa as well, going to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens to see the lights, walking on the boardwalk, taking a walk on Christmas Day and just enjoying their company.

Brooke has been busy lately. She’s learned to sit up unassisted now for several minutes at a time. Additionally, she’s enjoying lounging on the bed with mom, especially when clean warm laundry is tossed on to her. Of course, she’s also getting into the holiday spirit. And after a long day there’s nothing like a good shower to get ready for bed.

Over the past week and a half Brooke has been slowly perfecting her ability to sit up. It started with just 1 – 2 seconds of independent sitting before toppling over. Now Brooke is routinely sitting unassisted for up to several minutes. It really is cool to see how fast she learns new skills.
