Oma and Opa Come to Visit

Oma and Opa came to visit and we had a lot of fun. We played around our house and they enjoyed some hopscotch and watching Brooke bike, playing at the park, taking Alex to the farm, hiking, and naturally the beach.  We also had a lot of fun party planning for Brooke’s 4th birthday party.

Mother’s Day 2016

This Mother’s Day the kids and I made Laura breakfast before we took a family hike at the arboretum.  Then after an early nap we headed to Busch Gardens for our first trip as a family there.  Brooke and Alex had a great time riding all the rides and Brooke even rode a roller coaster with Laura and loved it.

Laura’s First Moms Trip with Jackie to New Orleans

Jackie and I decided to reconnect and take a little break from our daily responsibilities on a moms vacation.  We flew in Thursday afternoon and went to see Canal Street and the French Quarter where we had dinner at The Gumbo Shop and of course drinks on Bourbon Street.   Friday we walked along the Mississippi and saw the Steamboat Natchez sail while eating hot beignets.  We looked at art at Jackson Square and shopped for our kiddos and husbands in the Quarter.  We had dinner at Chartres Restaurant on the balcony and I sampled a creole plate.  Saturday we explored the art galleries and antique shops of the Garden District after taking the streetcar.  We got rained in a bit but still enjoyed a French dinner at Tableau Restaurant our last night in the Quarter with of course hot beignets for dessert and one final beer to top off the night.  Sunday we got up early and flew home to our families.  I was welcomed home by my adorable family with a beautiful ‘Welcome Home Mommy’ sign.

International Children’s Festival

On a whim I drove the kids to Hampton to check out the International Children’s Festival.  It is a festival encompassing many of the countries and cultures around the globe 100% geared towards children.  With crafts, kids activities, music, and dancing at each country (tent).  Brooke and Alex enjoyed watching and dancing along the best.
