We booked a cabin at Smith Mountain Lake State Park and rented a pontoon boat while we were visiting. We enjoyed using the boat–cruising, jumping off it, swimming, docking on a little beach, and tubing. We also hiked in the mornings and enjoyed biking around the cabin area. Alex celebrated his 6th birthday while we were on vacation. We all had a relaxing and enjoyable time!
Since we’ll be at the cabin for Alex’s birthday, we decided to let him pick all his meals and open his presents today. He started the day off with donuts and opening his gifts. Then tried out his roller blades, scooter, basketball hoop, drum, and built several lego sets. He asked for Wendy’s for lunch and nachos for dinner with AJ’s lava cake for dessert.
In addition to teaching the kids, both AJ and I have been having fun teaching ourselves piano.
During quiet time Brooke created a movie. Enjoy!

It’s week 12 and next week is the last week of school. I’ve stopped taking pictures of them doing all their assignments because they are largely the same. Tuesday we went on a short hike, Wednesday we played outside first thing before it go too hot. For Art we colored pages from a coloring book my friend gave me to cheer me up. Even AJ joined in when he got home from work. Thursday the kids read with AJ in the hammock before he went to work, then we did classwork and went to the beach after lunch. Friday we went to lunch and had a picnic in the parking lot outside target and Chik-fil-A because, you know, nobody can go inside anywhere. Saturday we all had dessert on the deck after playing outside and Sunday we had picnic lunch outside too. It is day 87 of quarantine.
