Independence Day Celebration

In Chesapeake they have Independence day celebrations on July 3rd so that city employees can be home with their families on July 4th.  We wanted to show Brooke the fireworks this year since it was a special occasion and planned accordingly by having her take two long naps (4.5 hours total) so she could stay up a bit later.  I also bought her a cute new dress.  We went to a friends BBQ where she had a good time playing with their two dogs and all the other children and then we went to Chesapeake City Park.  Brooke loved clapping her hands as the army band played music; specifically during ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’.  She also had lots of fun walking around and interacting with all the people there.  When the fireworks started she wasn’t afraid but was mesmerized.  After a while though it started getting loud and she enjoyed the rest of the show being held by myself and Laura.

Towne Place Concert

We love living in Chesapeake.  There is always something fun going on for our family to go do.  During the summer one of our favorite things to do is going to the Towne Place Concerts on Friday evening where they have live music.  This year Brooke can now run around and really enjoy herself, which she did tonight.

AJ’s Residency Graduation

Tuesday June 11th was an exciting day for us as it was AJ’s graduation form residency.  It has been a busy three years of learning and working for EVMS but on June 30th he will no longer be a resident and will start work as an attending!  AJ and I have attended the graduation ceremonies the past two years and were fortunate enough to enjoy the grace and hospitality of Dr. Counselman and his wife who hosted this years ceremony at their Larchmont home.  It was a wonderful time visiting with old friends and of course celebrating AJ’s achievements!  I could not be any prouder of him and all the work he has put in these last three years.  I love you AJ!!

Grammy and Grandpa Visit

This past week we got to visit with Grammy and Grandpa.  We all enjoyed having them around, but Brooke really had a good time hanging out with them, going to the beach, playing at the park and going to a farm.  Also, Brooke really got comfortable walking all on her own this week – – it’s been quite the transformation to where she now just runs around the house anywhere she’d like to go.

Pow Wow

It is Pow Wow season on the East Coast and this Saturday there was a festival at Chesapeake City Park.  This is Brooke’s 3rd Pow Wow and she had lots of fun eating fry bread, watching the hoop dance, dancing to the music, walking around the park, earning her feather (Chief Cutie Pie), and surveying the goods.
