Bahamas Vacation

AJ and I had not taken a vacation by ourselves since before I was pregnant with Alex four years ago, therefore, we decided to take a few days in the Bahamas.  We enjoyed three nights on the island of Exuma at Emerald Bay.  We left at 4:45am to arrive on the only flight into Exuma and enjoyed the afternoon by the beach and pool.  The next day, I unfortunately woke up sick but found some dayquil at the gift shop. I was still able to enjoy the beautiful beach, a little catamaran with AJ, lunch at the beach-side restaurant, and the swim up bar with a colorful drink called the Bob Marley.  This night we went to a Japanese Steakhouse for dinner and ended up at the piano bar where we both sang but didn’t take pictures as we forgot the camera in the hotel room.  The next day AJ woke up sick and so we mostly relaxed at the beach and took the catamaran out (which was AJ’s favorite).   By dinner, he was feeling worse and I was feeling better so he had just a sprite with dinner but I found a non-bahamian beer.  He was up for a little darts and a quick game of pool after dinner but then headed back to our room early for him to rest and me to pack for our early checkout the next day.  Even though we both ended up getting sick we still really enjoyed our time with just each other in such a beautiful place!

A Day with Alex

Alex and I ended up spending a lot of time together today and he had a lot of fun playing in the yard, riding his bike, having a snack, and swinging in the hammock.

Brooke’s First 1 Mile Race

This morning Brooke ran her first 1 Mile race The Spooky 1 Mile.  She did great and finished in 10 minutes 29 seconds.  Alex had a lot of fun riding along in the stroller.  After the race I treated the kids to donuts then we surprised AJ at work.  After that we went and played at two parks and they both passed out on the car ride home.  Brooke really enjoyed her race and is excited to do another race next month.

Apple Cider

With fall here and finally colder weather I mulled some cider for everyone today.  It was a hit!

Crawlin’ Crab Half Marathon

It was a hot and humid day for the half marathon in Hampton and AJ and the kiddos came to cheer me on.  I did pretty well with the first half of the race and ended up slowing a bit after mile 8 due to the heat and humidity.  My favorite part of the whole race was seeing AJ, Brooke, and Alex at the finish line.
