The kids and I had an eventful Saturday. I started it off by making them snowman pancakes, playing outside, going to the farm, lunch at the farm, playing for hours at a new park, then a quick nap and quiet time before getting ready for the parade. It is our third Christmas in Great Bridge but our first time going to this parade and this was both kids first parade ever too! There was a lot to see including Brooke’s kindergarten teacher Mrs. Soles on a float (not pictured because I was too excited waving and showing Brooke I didn’t get a picture). The parade had it all (even Santa at the end), was two hours long, and we had a great time watching the whole thing!

WHRO Pledge Drive
I signed up to volunteer for WHRO (our local PBS station) for a pledge drive. I have donated to the radio which we listen to and the kiddos watch Curious George on the TV station. I mistakenly assumed, though I knew it was a TV pledge drive, that I was going to be in a phone bank not in front of the camera. It ended up being pretty fun and I signed up again but this time for the radio pledge drive!
Founders Illumination
I took the kiddos to a Christmas lighting festival when they turned on all the lights in their English garden.
Goodbye Diaper Bag
After hanging unused in our hall closet for the last few months I decided to clean out and throw away our very well used diaper bag. It was the one I got while pregnant with Brooke and it has been in heavy use for five and a half years. On one hand I am very happy to not be changing diapers but on another we have had to for so long that AJ suggested I give it a hug before I throw it away.
Vickie’s Birthday Weekend
My friend Vickie was turning 35 and for her birthday I took her on a girls trip. She had never left her kids with her husband to do something just for her (and her oldest is turning 6). We started off the day driving to Richmond then hiking at Pocahontas State Park on Beaver Lake Trail. We had lunch at Fiesta Chicken, followed by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. After checking into the hotel and a shower, I took Vickie to Fighting Fish for her birthday dinner. We had drinks at Cha-Cha’s which ended up turning into a dance club so we stayed to dance and closed the place down. We woke up the next day and walked to breakfast at Urban Farmhouse before having to check out and head back to our families. I had a lot of fun and I think Vickie had a good time too.
