Ammy & Papa Visit

Ammy and Papa came to visit for Christmas break and had a lot of fun with us.  Brooke and Alex had a good time playing with Ammy and Papa and doing fun Christmas things like making cookies, seeing Christmas lights, opening presents, and AJ and I enjoyed a date night.  Papa was very busy helping AJ build the kid’s biggest Christmas present: The Playhouse.  It was a fun week!

Thanksgiving 2016

We had a really fun time this Thanksgiving even though AJ had to work.  We got up and went on our traditional Thanksgiving hike but unfortunately got rained out about a half mile in.  We came home and had cocoa and watched the Macy’s Parade by the fire while I made an early dinner.  The kids had coloring sheets to do and Alex made a thankful wreath like Brooke did the day before in school.  AJ went to work and the kids and I relaxed the rest of the day.

Halloween

We had an amazing time this Halloween!  We started the day off with Brooke having her Halloween parade at school and a party at school.  Alex’s teachers are the sweetest and even though he doesn’t go to school on Monday’s they told me to bring him to his class Halloween party today.  Both kids had a great time at their school parties!  This evening we went trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood.  We had a lot of fun going to a bunch of houses and both kids had full buckets in less than an hour.  It was also fun to watch our neighbors reactions to our costumes.  Everyone loved the family costume including one dad told AJ ‘you win the night’ for his Big Bird costume.  We were also very popular among tween girls getting a chorus of ‘oh soooo cute!’  Brooke and Alex got to enjoy a lot of their candy and shared openly with us, which was so sweet, we even had to start refusing as we were getting full.  Afterwards we went back outside to our neighborhood’s other cul-de-sac for a bonfire and more playing and fun with friends.

4th of July Celebration- Alex’s First Fireworks!

For this year’s 4th of July Celebration we headed the Chesapeake City Park to enjoy their festivities and fireworks show.  We enjoyed some of the kids crafts and bounce houses but when they shut them down (an hour before fireworks started) we took to the Fun Forest to play.  Once the fireworks started Alex was awestruck!  He didn’t even suck his thumb or wince once.  He really enjoyed his first fireworks show!  Happy Birthday America!

Mother’s Day 2016

This Mother’s Day the kids and I made Laura breakfast before we took a family hike at the arboretum.  Then after an early nap we headed to Busch Gardens for our first trip as a family there.  Brooke and Alex had a great time riding all the rides and Brooke even rode a roller coaster with Laura and loved it.
