Christmas 2017

We had a great Christmas celebration with Oma and Opa visiting.  We saw Christmas lights a day early because of expected rain.  We enjoying visiting Christmas Towne on Christmas Eve morning, making Christmas cookies for Santa, and our traditional Chinese dinner before setting out cookies and carrots for Santa.  Santa came and brought the kiddos exactly what they asked for: a little Christmas tree to decorate and a T-Rex dinosaur with mouth that opens and closes.  They also got many many many gifts from family and from us too. Oma and Opa enjoyed opening their gifts from the kids and from us as well.  After opening presents, the kids got to try out their new scooters we got them.  Everyone helped me make dinner which was wonderful and we all enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner.  Merry Christmas!

Oma and Opa Visit for Christmas

Oma and Opa visited us the week of Christmas and we had a great time having them! We enjoyed some fun at the park on a warm day, seeing Christmas lights, going to Christmas Towne on Christmas Eve, celebrating Christmas and enjoying playing with all the toys afterward.  They even got to see snow flurries before they had to leave!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Alex started it off at 6:45 but luckily went back to his room until 7:30 when I got up with him, we had donuts for breakfast, played a lot in the playroom, and at 9:00 started watching the parade.  At 9:30 I started emptying the dishwasher *not so quietly* and finally Brooke and AJ came down to join us.  After enjoying some more of the parade we got dressed and went on our Thanksgiving Hike.  When we got home I put the parade back on so I could get some of the two hours of cooking done and Alex fell asleep with all the noise at 1pm.  He got a short nap before being woken for dinner at 2pm because AJ had to leave for work a little after 3pm.  After playing outside and enjoying the afternoon Brooke helped me decorate the playhouse.  It was a great thanksgiving!

Halloween

This Halloween was a busy one!  We started off the day with Daddy FINALLY feeling better after being sick for a week.  He was feeling so good he decided to make us pancake breakfast with witches hats and pumpkin shaped pancakes.  After getting Brooke on the bus, I took Alex to storytime and then to the park for a playdate with CJ.  When AJ got home from work we carved pumpkins with Alex and then Brooke when she got home from school.  I made us some from-scratch chicken strew with ghost, scary cat, and pumpkin biscuits.  Then we dressed in our costumes, The Good Wolf and the Three Little Pigs, to go trick-or-treating.  We got home after only an hour as they said they were tired.  The kids ate A LOT of candy and then stayed up 2 hours after their bedtime on sugar high.  Brooke did some creative drawing of us trick-or-treating on the road.  It was a good Halloween!

Christmas

We had a really enjoyable Christmas!  It started off with Chinese food on Christmas Eve, a walk around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights, and opening one gift each.  Then early Christmas morning Brooke and Alex ran down the stairs to see what Santa had brought them.  We opened the rest of the presents with a break for delicious cinnamon rolls.  We walked the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail and then I made dinner while AJ put the door on the playhouse.  We all enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner and cookies for dessert.
