Independence Day Celebration

In Chesapeake they have Independence day celebrations on July 3rd so that city employees can be home with their families on July 4th.  We wanted to show Brooke the fireworks this year since it was a special occasion and planned accordingly by having her take two long naps (4.5 hours total) so she could stay up a bit later.  I also bought her a cute new dress.  We went to a friends BBQ where she had a good time playing with their two dogs and all the other children and then we went to Chesapeake City Park.  Brooke loved clapping her hands as the army band played music; specifically during ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’.  She also had lots of fun walking around and interacting with all the people there.  When the fireworks started she wasn’t afraid but was mesmerized.  After a while though it started getting loud and she enjoyed the rest of the show being held by myself and Laura.

Remembrance Day

On our day of remembering those who died while serving in our Armed Forces, we enjoyed the freedoms that they gave their lives for.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday Brooke got to go to her first Easter Egg Hunt.  With a little help from Mom she was able to grab her first egg ever.  She even got to meet the Easter Bunny and sit in a fire truck too.

Sand Tasting

As you know I have been ill since Saturday and Brooke and I have spent most of our days in pajamas at home. Well today I had to drive to the Virginia Beach Convention Center to get my race bib for Sunday (yes, I’m still contemplating running sickness and all). Since we were a mile from the beach I decided since we both had a 2 hour morning nap to take Brooke to the sand after the expo. Here she is playing at the sand playground on 1st street in her new shoes since she prefers to be on her feet these days.

When I put Brooke in the sand I should have expected her first instinct would be to taste the sand. I am sure this is the first of many sand tastings we will have this summer.
