Brooke at the Christmas Party

Everyone knows how much Brooke loves her baby.  She needed to take baby with her to a Christmas party we went to at a friends house this weekend.  To prevent baby from getting left behind I put her in my purse when Brooke gave her up to eat some food.  Brooke was playing with her friend Olivia and the other babies and then found this stroller just for dolls and started pushing it around empty.  When I saw how cute she was I gave her back her baby to put in the stroller.  She spent an hour pushing baby in the circle that was Melissa’s kitchen/entry/dinning room/living room.  Everyone at the party thought it was a hoot!  Needless to say Mom and Dad got her one for Christmas.

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  I was off and so we got to spend quality time together.  Thursday we went on our traditional walk of the Great Dismal Swamp.  Brooke, unfortunately, did not enjoy herself very much at all this year, but we managed to snap a few good pictures.  After a long nap while Laura and I cooked, Brooke was in a much better mood and we went to the Zappas’ family home for dinner.  Brooke had a lot of fun playing with her friend Adrianna and there was a lot of good food to eat.

Halloween

Brooke has had a very eventful Halloween.  It started yesterday with stroller trick-or-treating and carving pumpkins.  Laura carved two pumpkins using a drill for one of them and I carved a jack o’lantern and a ‘B’ for Brooke’s pumpkin.  We had fun picking our pumpkins off the vine earlier this month.

Today Brooke got to do stroller trick-or-treating again and then we went to the library for a special Halloween storytime with a craft and, you guessed it, more trick-or-treating.  However, we were most excited for tonight.  We dressed up as a family as Despicable Me’s Gru and minions.  Brooke loved trick-or-treating and really enjoyed going up to everyone’s door and most of all grabbing handfuls of goodies.  We got lots of compliments from our neighbors on our costumes.  Brooke ate at least 5 pieces of chocolate while going door to door.  She was one happy toddler.

Pumpkin Picking

Yesterday we went pumpkin picking at one of our local farms.  We each picked out a pumpkin to bring home and carve.  It was a really neat experience for all of us to pick and cut our pumpkins off the vine.  We’ll post our masterpieces as it gets closer to Halloween.

Labor Day

We made the most out of Labor Day this year.  We started off the day with a family run to a nearby park, where Brooke and I stayed and played while Laura ran a few more miles as she continues to train for the Marine Corps Marathon for this coming October in Washington DC.  Then after Brooke’s nap we all went to the beach to enjoy one of the most beautiful days we’ve had there in a while, splashing in the waves, relaxing on the sand and enjoying each others company.  Afterwards, we went to Dairy Queen and had ice cream, even Brooke got her own cone.  For dinner we grilled burgers and had some tasty sides.  Then to finish out the day we took a family bike ride around our neighborhood.  It was quite the fun-filled day.
