Thanksgiving

We started our Thanksgiving with our tradition of going on a hike.  AJ picked this years destination and we did a beautiful trail in First Landing State Park.  We got home and after lunch got to cooking and napping.  We watched the Macy’s Day Parade before dinner and all ate a delicious dinner.  So much to be thankful for!

Halloween

We had a fun and eventful Halloween this year.  Brooke, AJ, and I carved pumpkins while Alex napped.  Then we all got dressed up for Halloween.  We make a pretty cute quartet of Oz characters.  Fun Fact: my costume is homemade- first garment I’ve ever sewed.  We all had a great time trick-or-treating in our wonderful neighborhood and even Alex stole away his first piece of candy.  After getting Alex to bed, Brooke got to run and play with the neighbors in the street (us watching her of course), and AJ and I enjoyed a fire in our driveway with the rest of the neighbors who always have a block party on Halloween.

Easter 2015

Today was Easter, and Laura, Brooke and Alex went to the park in the morning while AJ worked.  Alex got to swing in a swing for the first time today, he loved it.  In the afternoon, after naps, Brooke went on an Easter egg hunt in our backyard and found all the eggs, she enjoyed the big chocolate bunny she got at the end and Alex likes his new bunny.  We went out for dinner and Alex got to sit in a high chair unassisted for the first time as well.  He did remarkably well, and considering Dad forgot the bib, he did really well eating at the table, barely getting any food on himself.

Christmas 2014

This holiday season was a fun one because Brooke is old enough to have some idea of what is going on and learned about all the fun traditions of Christmas.  It was also Alex’s first Christmas.  We had Ammy and Papa visit us this week and they had a lot of fun playing with Brooke and Alex.  On Christmas Eve we went to see Christmas lights and then set out Spritzgebäck cookies and milk for Santa.  Then everyone had fun opening gifts on Christmas morning and enjoyed a Christmas dinner.

Polar Express Date with Brooke

Tonight we took Brooke to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens for their polar express night.  We got to do a craft, have hot cocoa and a treat, and then listen to a story before riding on the ‘train’ through the lights.  We got a sitter as to not subject Alex to the 38 degree weather and so we decided to keep Brooke up past her bedtime and take her to dinner too.
