This weekend Jackie came to visit us and meet Alex. It was great to have her in our home and she was a great help with both kids and good company. I got to go on my first mom’s night out with her on Friday night right after she landed in Chesapeake. Alex got to have his first trial of a night bottle with AJ to see if down the road we can do a date night- the evening was a success. Jackie also kindly watched Brooke and Alex so we could have our first meal out together alone since Alex was born. Saturday we went to the Virginia Children’s Festival and Brooke had a blast. Sunday we went pumpkin picking and each got our own pumpkin. Jackie got two little ones to take back to Arizona for Ben and Amy. Monday we relaxed around the house before sadly I had to take her to the airport in the early afternoon. It was great to see her and have such a fun weekend!

Bergey’s Corn Maze
Today we got to spend the day as a family at one of our favorite places Bergey’s Farm and Breadbasket. Or as Brooke calls it ‘Farmer!’ We enjoyed their festive fall displays and went through the soybean labyrinth and corn maze, marking each checkpoint as we got there. Then we all enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch.
Smithsonian Free Museum Day
This Saturday was Smithsonian Free Museum Day and we got free tickets to go the Portsmouth Children’s Museum. Alex rested comfortably in his stroller or sling while Brooke had a blast with Mommy and Dadda.

Air Show
We went to the air show at our local naval base today. Brooke loved seeing all the airplanes, but when they started flying she wasn’t quite ready for the loud sounds. Next year we’ll have to get her some headphones Laura says.
Picnic Watching Airplanes
Yesterday evening we all went to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens where they have a nice overlook to the airplanes at Norfolk Airport. In addition to Brooke being infatuated with Alex right now, she also loves airplanes. We bought her a new lunch box this past week in anticipation of her starting school again in another week, and she chose one featuring the movie ‘Planes’. Brooke got to bring her picnic dinner with her in her new lunch box which can be seen in these pictures. It was a very relaxing evening, despite it being 95°, as there was a strong wind and lots of shade.
