We went to the playground where Alex showed how much of a daredevil he was by going head first down the slide repeatedly. Later on in the day Alex practiced his walking.

Today we hiked the beautiful Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton. We had never been and did a lovely 3 mile hike around two lakes and through a wilderness preserve of wetlands. Everyone had a wonderful time!
We had a nice day going to Bergey’s farm to see the animals, and of course have some delicious ice cream, and then Brooke and I took a bike ride through our neighborhood in the evening.

Sometimes your sitter has a flat tire and since you’re all dressed anyway why not take the kids out to dinner (something family friendly) instead of staying home?
Today was Alex’s first birthday and we spent it doing all the things he likes best. He had pancakes for breakfast and then went to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens to play in the fountains. After a nap and lunch we went to the bounce house. Then after nap and a dinner of his favorite foods he opened all his presents. Not to bad for only a year old!
