We attempted to go pumpkin picking at a new farm because our usual one was washed clean from Hurricane Matthew. This farm was as well so we ended up choosing pumpkins from a bin but we at least took a hayride because we drove out.
We found this gem of a festival and had a great time! It was worth the drive for all the unique cultural performances, crafts, and over 200 vendors. One of my favorite parts was the woodworking area where they gave Brooke and Alex beautiful handmade tops for free.
This year we all went to the Children’s Festival at Town Point Park and had fun playing with all the child friendly events and the kids got to dance to Steve Songs.

We had another day of rain and very cranky children so we decided to try this trick.
Yearly the Smithsonian does a free day to local establishments. This year we went to the Virginia Zoo with our own wild animals.
