Aquarium with Friends

After breakfast we went to the Aquarium on yet another rainy winter day to meet up with some friends.  Brooke had a great time playing with her friends and I did an excellent job, if I do say so myself, of multitasking the both of them.  Playing with Brooke while Alex napped a short while, nursing Alex while Brooke played in the new children’s area, and then feeding him solids while we walked through the aquarium exhibits.  Yes that is a beach towel covering him in the stroller and sweet potatoes on his face.  Brooke and I even got to sit down and eat the lunch I packed us with Marcella, Mattie, and Grady in the aquarium’s cafe before heading home to naps.  It was a successful day.

Brooke’s Birdhouse

When Papa was here over the Christmas holiday, he and Brooke started working on a birdhouse together.  Unfortunately, they didn’t get to finish it during his stay here.  Brooke finished it the other day though and loved painting it a variety of colors.  She even painted the inside.  Now we wait for spring to see if any little bird decides to take up residence.

New Year Botanical Gardens

The rain has parted for us and so Brooke, Alex, and I had a muddy day of fun at the very wet Botanical Gardens.  It was a flux ‘warm’ day of 70 degrees (which happens occasionally with our coastal weather) so it was definitely a day to spend outside even if it was muddy.

Alex’s First Time at the Aquarium

I took the kids this morning to the Aquarium for Brooke to run around since it has been so rainy lately.  Alex mostly slept while his sister played but they both got to see scuba Santa before we headed out.

Polar Express Date with Brooke

Tonight we took Brooke to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens for their polar express night.  We got to do a craft, have hot cocoa and a treat, and then listen to a story before riding on the ‘train’ through the lights.  We got a sitter as to not subject Alex to the 38 degree weather and so we decided to keep Brooke up past her bedtime and take her to dinner too.
