Brooke and Alex asked me if I had any ‘kid tea’ that they could drink with breakfast. I told them the names of all the herbal teas I had and they chose an orange citrus spice tea. Both of them really enjoyed it and have been asking me to drink it in the morning.
This week Brooke was enrolled in Mini Chefs STEAM Camp for 3 hours in the morning. She loved every day and we are really impressed that they actually cooked every day in addition to having fun playing and learning cooking science. They had a ‘menu’ for the week and at the end she got her own personalized cookbook. She also got to keep her chef’s hat and apron that she decorated with ‘a zucchini, broccoli, and two rainbows’. Monday: Apple Pie, Tuesday: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Wednesday: Cake Decorating, Thursday: Homemade Pasta, Friday: Bread, Butter, and Ice Cream! She had a wonderful time!

Brooke and I enjoyed a few minutes of quiet to do some painting while the boys went to get haircuts one afternoon. She painted a purple turtle with ballet shoes, a rainbow with a teddy bear, and a lemon tree with a lemon and a bug with long skirt.
Now that Brooke is comfortable using a ‘big’ knife to dice already prepared pieces I have moved her up to full prep (starting with the whole vegetable). Since we are eating a lot of bell peppers from our garden she is a pro at halving, cleaning, and slicing one start to finish. She helped prepare these for roasting with the radishes and then learned to egg wash and coat pork chops with homemade panko topping. (Don’t worry, that little thumb was tucked- she knows 🙂
Today I took the kiddos to the beach by myself. Because of age and equipment it has always been a two parent job but now that they are getting older I decided to try it by myself. We had a lot of fun at Little Island Park in Sandbridge building sandcastles, running in the water, checking out the pier, building the kids a tide pool, having lunch, jumping in the waves, and on the drive home Brooke needed a bathroom break so we ended up getting a treat when we stopped.
