Sandbridge Family Vacation

I booked us a condo by the beach for 4 nights so we could have a family vacation this summer.  We hoped that Alex would do well traveling now that he was older and he had transitioned into a big boy bed.  He did a great job sleeping in a twin bed with Brooke in her own twin bed.  They had a lot of fun except Brooke was not very happy to be woken up an hour earlier every morning by him poking her in the face and wanting to play (I guess she didn’t realize that Mommy gets up everyday and plays with him until she finally decides to get up).  Both kids had a great time at the beach and we had better than predicted weather.  Mostly we stayed at our condo complex and went to the beach and pool everyday.  Our condo was north facing and had a great view of the ocean and Back Bay.  The great thing about Sandbridge is that with the exception of a few restaurants, one store, and one ice cream place, it is largely residential so it is very quiet and peaceful. One night we went to ice cream and the last night we went to a nearby park.  We really enjoyed spending time with each other on vacation, it was relaxing and fun for everyone.

Sprinkler Playtime

Last time I was at Taylor’s I spent $6 on a multi-spray sprinkler head for the kids to play with.  Unfortunately, all of the settings except what Brooke calls ‘the baby one’ frighten Alex.  The kids still had fun running around with it on the ‘baby’ setting.  It was a good way to spend a hot day at home.

Summer School Date

Today we put both kids into summer school.  They will both attend in the fall, Brooke returning and Alex for his first time at school.  The school had 5 weeks in June that they offered for summer school and we decided to send them one day a week when AJ was off so we could have a date.  It was Alex’s first time and he walked right in and according to his teacher ‘had the best first day one could ask for’.  He was most excited to wear his Koala backpack which he got from his Great Uncle Eddy sent from Australia when he was 9 months old.  We had saved in his closet until he was ready for school. On our morning date we got to go kayaking on our local waterways and have a delicious lunch out before picking both happy kids up at the end of their day at summer school.

Beach day with Mommy

I took the kids to the beach this morning to have fun and run around in the sand.  We had a good time filling buckets with water and then either them throwing the water on themselves, each other, or having me throw water on them.  I grabbed a few pictures of them before I put my phone away to be hypervigilant mommy since I was the only adult with two young kiddos near the water.  Alex either completely ignores me when I ask him to smile or gives me this face when I say ‘cheese’, hahaha.

Big Boy Bed For Alex

We moved Alex into his new big boy bed!  He is very excited to have a bed now.  We did a few trial nights to make sure he indeed loved it before we disassembled the crib a week later.  These are pictures of his first night and day.  Such a big boy!!
