Fun Day in Norfolk

Today I took the kids to the Wells Theater for Children’s Theatre of Hamton Roads presentation of Davy Crockett’s Tremendously Tall Tales.  We got to Norfolk early to ensure the tickets I bought a long time ago were at will call and then walked to the USS Wisconsin for to look around before returning to the show.  The kids had a lot of fun and the play was written by the 3 actors who preformed it.  It was very interactive and we all loved it.  Afterwards the kids were hungry so we walked to The Granby Deli for sandwiches al fresco.  We walked around enjoying the art before spending over an hour at the Slover library enjoying their books, interactive areas, and their rooftop garden. We walked down to waterside before heading home.  It was a great day!

Tire Swing

Brooke has asked for a swing in our yard on and off for a little while now, so today while she was at school Alex and I went and got a tire from a local tire shop (you’d be amazed at how many tire shops won’t give you an old tire they are going to throw out and are actually paying a company to take off their hands).  Then we went and got the hardware and while Alex was at a play date I cleaned, drilled and assembled them a tire swing.  Brooke and Alex were both very excited when they came home and saw it.

Alex’s School Easter Egg Hunt

Alex was excited to have an Easter Egg Hunt at his school.  Because it was raining they did it inside but everyone still had fun!

Muddy Hike

This afternoon I took Brooke and Alex to Northwest River Park for a 3 mile hike.  After snacks at the halfway point we took a very muddy trail back.  Brooke and I did the best to weave around off trail to avoid the plethora of mud puddles but Alex just started walking through them.  I had to strip both down to their undies to get them into the car.  Sign of a good hike!

Alex’s Big Boy Bed

Today I put together Alex’s big boy bed!  He wanted dinosaur print and so now has a new twin bed with bed frame, dinosaur sheets, dinosaur bedspread, and some dinosaur decorations.  I also re-arranged his furniture to make room for his big boy bed!  Brooke and Daddy were surprised to see his new room when they got home.
