The Great Dismal Swamp

For a little over four years now we’ve been trying to go see the lake inside of the Great Dismal Swamp.  Well, we finally made it today.  It was a nice family outing and seeing such calm water was very cool, almost bordering on creepy.  On the way home Brooke sang to us all.  For the first half of the first video Laura kept the camera down so as to not have Brooke’s “stage fright” set in.

Alex’s 2 month check up

Alex had an appointment with Dr. Mink this morning for his 2 month well baby check up.  He did great with Dr. Mink and we found out that he is 24.8 inches long and 14lb 15oz.  He, of course, did not enjoy receiving the shots but nursed well and took a nap after his appointment.  Then he was happy for about an hour and that was about it for the day.  Alex and I had a busy day of consoling, extra extra nursings, a trip to walgreens for infant pain medication (I have 3 bottles of 2 year and up in the closet but didn’t have infant for 1-24 month on hand), naps on Mommy, naps in the carseat because it made him stop crying, and being consoled by big sister Brooke.

Hiking Chesapeake Arboretum

This morning Brooke, Alex, and I went on a short hike of the Chesapeake Arboretum.  It is a beautiful fall day today and perfect sweater weather.  Sorry for some of the blurry pictures- we were on the move!

Stockley Garden Art Festival

Yesterday we went as a family to the Stockley Garden Art Festival.  Alex snuggled up to me in the ERGO and Brooke had fun watching a street performer on Dadda’s shoulders.

Orange shirt play day at NGB

Brooke, Alex and I had a great morning.  I decided it was close enough to Halloween to bust out the little pumpkin mustache man onesie I had ordered him online and more importantly it is finally feeling like fall with a high of 70 degrees.  So since Brooke’s favorite color right now is orange, she wore her shirt to match Alex’s.  After some morning wake up fun and watching the garbage truck pick up our trash we were off.  We joined 6 other mothers and their kiddos for a day out and played at the many playgrounds of the NBG.  Then everyone else went home and we found a nice shady spot in the evergreen garden for the picnic lunch I packed this morning.  On our way home we -of course!- had to stop and watch the airplanes at the airport.  It was a fun morning with my favorite girl and boy!
