Halloween

This year we decided that we could safely trick-or-treat with masks and candy quarantine. I bought candy early in the week and that’s what we all feasted on when we got home (the gathered candy is still in lockdown for 5 days). We carved our pumpkins, and I made a very timely design for mine (he’s happy because he doesn’t have coronavirus). Then we had a Nerf war in the yard because AJ decided to buy us all guns. After dressing up, we spent the entire allotted time trick-or-treating under the blue moon. The kids had a great time!

Sunday Paper and Family Hike

Today we started off by reading the New York Times. Brooke found the crossword and not knowing how to do it, filled it in with numbers (so cute). There’s a kids section with easy, medium, and hard kids crossword puzzles, and after learning how to do them, she completed the first two (with help). Afterward, we hiked the back trails of Oak Grove Lake as a family. Such a lovely Sunday morning!

Brooke’s Seasaw Catapult

Brooke needed to create something using simple machines for school. She and AJ built what she calls a catapult to move Monkey from one area to another. Really, I should let her explain . . .

Hiking FLSP

The kids and I got right into hiking first thing on this gorgeous morning. We tried a new-to-them trail at First Landing State Park, and they did amazing on the 5.4-mile hike. When he got home, we played board games on the deck. What a beautiful day to be outside!

Laura’s Book Release

I released my debut novel today. I had a lot of fun checking proofs, unboxing, signing copies, being treated to a delicious celebratory dinner with gifts, sharing my book cake with AJ and the kiddos, crossing off “release day” on my countdown calendar, and attending a virtual book release party hosted by Jackie! It was a fun day!
