Mini Chefs Camp

This week Brooke was enrolled in Mini Chefs STEAM Camp for 3 hours in the morning.  She loved every day and we are really impressed that they actually cooked every day in addition to having fun playing and learning cooking science.  They had a ‘menu’ for the week and at the end she got her own personalized cookbook.  She also got to keep her chef’s hat and apron that she decorated with ‘a zucchini, broccoli, and two rainbows’.  Monday: Apple Pie, Tuesday: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Wednesday: Cake Decorating, Thursday: Homemade Pasta, Friday: Bread, Butter, and Ice Cream!  She had a wonderful time!

Potty Training!

We started potty training Alex this weekend and after a few days ‘naked’ (just undies) staying at the house he is doing great and staying dry.  We’ve taken him to the grocery, to take Brooke to and from camp, and to play in the BIG KID section of the gym since he is doing so well!  Everytime he stays dry and goes potty he gets a sticker on his chart and a matchbox car after 10 stickers.  He has been doing great and getting a car every day.  Way to go Alex!

Her Chef Training Continues…

Now that Brooke is comfortable using a ‘big’ knife to dice already prepared pieces I have moved her up to full prep (starting with the whole vegetable).  Since we are eating a lot of bell peppers from our garden she is a pro at halving, cleaning, and slicing one start to finish.  She helped prepare these for roasting with the radishes and then learned to egg wash and coat pork chops with homemade panko topping.  (Don’t worry, that little thumb was tucked- she knows 🙂
