Family Kayaking

Today we went kayaking as a family.  In the past we have had to take shifts with the kids because of developmental, safety, or space reasons, but now we can all go together. We kayaked up a part of the Elizabeth River ten minutes from our house that has a nice dry launch.  We even had snacks and of course everyone’s water with us.  The kids enjoyed going under a few docks and Brooke even paddled a bit.  Unfortunately, my kayak does not have two seats so Alex got tired of sitting up and we transferred him to AJ’s kayak for the ride back.  We paddled 2 miles round trip. It was a nice morning!

Harborfest 2017

We went to Harborfest today to see the tall ships and listen to the music.

Cool Day in June

Today was 62 degrees and we enjoyed the cool weather by trying out a new park.  The kids enjoyed a treat for being good at the tea shop and then monkeyed around.  After the playground Brooke and Alex wanted to hike different trails.  So we flipped a coin and ended up hiking Stumpy Lake.  It was a nice break from the hot weather!

Chesapeake Care Center

Today I started volunteering at the Chesapeake Care Center one day a week while the kids are at school.  It is a great organization that provides free medical care for those without insurance run almost entirely by volunteer RN, MA, and MDs.
