Yearly the Smithsonian does a free day to local establishments. This year we went to the Virginia Zoo with our own wild animals.

15.5 Inches of Rain
Over 3 days we got 15.5 inches of rain. It rained nonstop for at least 24 hours. School was canceled for 2 days. The kids got a lot of fun playing in our front yard while it rained and the following day during an hour break in the storm they went to play in the flooding down the road.

Brooke’s First VSO Concert
I am very excited that Brooke is old enough to take to the symphony! I took her to her first concert of the PB and Jam series which is the VSO concert that are geared towards children. They played popular classical music, all pieces that she had heard before, and they coordinated with Cirque to have acrobats performing in front of the orchestra. It was a really fun performance! They have crafts beforehand for the kids so I gave us 30 minutes for crafts. Unfortunately I drove to the concert hall in Norfolk and we were walking there when I noticed it was very quiet outside the hall. Realizing my mistake, Brooke and I sprinted to the car (she is a very good runner) and got back in and drove to the Virginia Beach concert hall. We got there just in time to run again from the garage, grab our tickets at will call, and went quickly to the potty while they were calling to seats. We sat down took a quick picture and then enjoyed the show. To make up for my blunder, I took Brooke to a nearby gelato cafe afterwards since she missed the crafts.
