This morning I did another running recon of Lake Lawson/Lake Smith Natural Area. Virginia Beach added this park recently to a wooded area that surrounds two lakes. This one had beautiful really well maintained trails and a large playground. We will definitely be bringing both the kiddos to hike and play here soon!

Halloween
We had a fun and eventful Halloween this year. Brooke, AJ, and I carved pumpkins while Alex napped. Then we all got dressed up for Halloween. We make a pretty cute quartet of Oz characters. Fun Fact: my costume is homemade- first garment I’ve ever sewed. We all had a great time trick-or-treating in our wonderful neighborhood and even Alex stole away his first piece of candy. After getting Alex to bed, Brooke got to run and play with the neighbors in the street (us watching her of course), and AJ and I enjoyed a fire in our driveway with the rest of the neighbors who always have a block party on Halloween.
Bergy’s Corn Maze
This beautiful fall morning we did another fall family tradition and ran through Bergey’s Farm Corn Maze. We started the day off with a private tractor ride (it pays to be the first ones on the farm), then ran through the maze, shot the corn gun to attempt to get some free ice cream, pet the goats, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was really fun that Alex is walking so well that he was able to walk most of the maze himself. He loves playing ‘chase Mommy’ around the house so we played it in the corn maze and he giggled so much.

Halloween Parade
Today Brooke and all the other 3 year olds at her preschool dressed up in their Halloween costumes and had a parade for the parents this morning. They learned three new songs to sing to us as well. While some of the kids had a hard time, you can see Brooke was thoroughly enjoying herself.

Alex Forward Facing
Big boy Alex now gets his turn to face forward and see what is going on in the car. When I first changed his seat we thought that he would be more excited (like Brooke was) about the change. Then I remembered that his whole life he has had a friend and companion in the back seat so never was frustrated about not seeing us. However, a few days later he was loving me checking my blind spot and looking at him then quickly back and now we can giggle at each other even when Brooke is not in the car.
