“Zebra”

Brooke loves to play a new game recently.  She brings you her zebra to hide, then she goes and hides behind some curtains, or will find a pillow to hide her face, while you hide the zebra.  You have to be careful though, she loves to cheat and watch where you put the zebra.  She’ll even try to reassure you that she’s not cheating by saying “No peak”.  Once the zebra is hidden she comes out and looks for him and usually screams with joy when she finds him.  In the video below she is saying “Zebra” attempting to cup her hands around her mouth as if calling out for him.

‘Baby Lay Down’

Alex is still working on establishing a nursing routine.  So some days he gets up before Brooke and some days at the same time.  Today he got up early and I was able to have him ‘dressed and ready’ when we woke up Brooke for the day.  One of Brooke’s favorite things is to lay face to face with Alex.  So when we woke her up she asked ‘Baby lay down?’.  Here are some pictures of her talking to and kissing Alex.  All was well until Alex spit up on her bed sheet ‘Ut oh Baby!’.

‘Brooke Carry Baby’

While I was pregnant I made a Brooke-sized Ergo carrier for her to carry her favorite toy- her baby doll.  I assumed when I was carrying Alex in his, she would want to copy Mommy and carry her doll as well.  I was right.  Since Alex is getting older and therefore more fussy I put him in the carrier to calm him last night.  Brooke got to wear her’s and we took our babies for a short walk.  Brooke kept saying ‘Brooke Carry Baby!’ and giving her baby kisses on the top of its head and holding its back.

Mommy Daughter Date

Today I was able to resume short amounts of driving and I wanted to take Brooke on a Mommy/Daughter date just the two of us.  AJ watched Alex between nursings and I asked Brooke where she wanted to eat.  She picked ‘soup and yoyo!(yogurt)’ and we had a lovely lunch with cookie dessert.  After I took her to pick out any toy she wanted and she got this fun bouncy stretchy ball that lights up when you bounce it.  Of course we had to head home to ‘show Dadda!’ her new toy and to feed Alex (here’s a picture of him smiling after nursing- 2 weeks old).

Brooke Swimming

We had one of the hottest days all summer yesterday, the unofficial last day of summer – – labor day.  We all went for a walk after dinner and didn’t make it very far because of the heat and humidity.  Laura graciously volunteered to watch Alex at home to keep him out of the heat while Brooke and I went to the pool, the last day it’s open for the summer.  We had fun splashing around and Brooke got very courageous and swam without her swim noodle.  She did a great job with just her arm floaties and really enjoyed it.  The video is about the fourth time she swam on her own yesterday.  Each time if I tried to help her while she was doing fine, she would say “No Dadda, Brooke try.”
