Today Brooke had an Easter egg hunt after stroller strides. It was a cold and windy 45 degrees but the kids were good sports for the hunt. It took Brooke a minute to figure out that she was supposed to pick up the eggs and put them in the basket but soon she got the hang of it and ended up with about as many as we brought. There were so many eggs that each child ended up with two dozen+.
Brooke loves her drawing easel. Sometimes she likes to climb inside of it to hide. It’s getting harder and harder for her though and she keeps growing.
This past Sunday was Laura’s birthday. We made a weekend out of it, doing her favorite things. We started off with a nice family picnic to Knott’s Island in NC along with some hiking. Then on Saturday we went to Dim Sum, to the mall to shop (and let Brooke play), then Laura and I went out to dinner that night to Eurasia followed by an art exhibit. On Sunday, Brooke and I made Laura breakfast and even hand-picked some flowers from our backyard. Laura and Brooke had fun making banana bread, and to top off the night Laura had to listen to our singing of ‘Happy Birthday’.

Today Brooke and I were playing when an ice cream truck pulled through the neighborhood at 7pm. Normally there is a pretty sketchy looking van with grocery bought snacks that drives through while the neighborhood children are at school and Brooke is asleep that I wouldn’t ever consider taking her out for. However, we saw that this truck was clean, beautifully painted, driven by a very nice lady, and it was real soft serve. Also we saw six neighborhood children sprinting at full speed towards the truck. Brooke was unaware to the excitement, but I picked her up and said ‘a real ice cream truck!’ I grabbed my wallet and we walked hand in hand to investigate. I bought Brooke a cone that she ate by herself and she seemed to really enjoy having fresh soft serve in her front yard.
