February Beach Day

This weekend we had unseasonably warm weather and got to enjoy it as a family.  On Saturday we enjoyed the animals and lunch at Bergey’s farm.  Brooke and AJ shared some of their homemade ice cream.  Then we had extended play time at the park for Brooke.  On Sunday we headed to the beach and if it got too cold we would go to the aquarium.  It was 75 degrees, sunny, with very little wind at the beach so we decided to spend the whole morning there.  We walked on the sand, played near the water, Brooke played twice on the playground (before and after lunch), we walked on the boardwalk (Brooke insisted she push the stroller), and we had lunch sitting outside at a little cafe facing the ocean.  We wore Brooke out!

A ‘spring’ day in February

Today was unusually warm for a Virginia winter.  Rainstorms were rolling in to pour all afternoon but that meant in the morning it was windy but a warm 70 degrees.  Today was the first day Brooke and I went to our friend’s Jill and Landen’s house for moms bookclub and playdate.  In the morning I got to discuss a book with 8 other mom’s and Brooke got to play with 8 other toddlers her age.  We both had a great time and ate a great brunch.  Jill lives in the neighborhood East Beach which is on the Chesapeake Bay.  Since it was such a nice day I declared that we were going to the beach afterwards.  I took Brooke’s tights and shoes off and we enjoyed a short while with our toes in the sand.

Valentine’s Day 2014

Valentine’s Day 2014 was also Brooke’s 21 month birthday.  We started the day with Stroller Strides and a fun Valentine’s Day craft.  Then Brooke got a special delivery from her friend Adrianna with a cute Valentine and special BFF cookie.  Then after nap Brooke got to open her mail.  She got lots of Valentines from all her family.  She also got some more heart cookies and a little red monkey from Grammy and Grandpa.  In the evening, Mom and Dad got to go out all dressed up on a nice date night (we, of course, forgot to ask our sitter to take a picture).

Brooke’s Play Kitchen

Shortly after we moved Oma and Opa bought Brooke a beautiful durable extra tall wood play kitchen that she will have fun playing with for years.  After I spent a snowy night putting it together (2.5 hours to assemble – not bad) she has loved playing with it ever since.
