Brooke’s Personalized Growth Chart

I have been taking several weeks to work on this project for Brooke.  For those who know me and know I am not very crafty at all, this is a feat.  I wanted to make her a custom board because most of them top off at 5’8”.  Since that is shorter than me, and I am the 2nd shortest woman in the collective family, I don’t think 5’8” would cut it.  AJ and I will be surprised is Brooke is less than 6 feet tall.  So I made this custom board for her out of a nice pine plank to look like a ruler with her name on it, something not too baby-centric.  I sanded it, stained it, hand wrote the marks and numbers with a paint pen, and then painted, glued and clamped the letters on.  I wanted to make her something that she will stand next to and measure herself at eight and eighteen.

Brooke’s First Swim Lesson – January 12th, 2013

Brooke is all ready to go to her first swim lesson today.  She’s got her new swim suit on (thanks Sis and John!) and even has her beach ball ready to toss around.  Look for more photo’s next week, as AJ will be off work and can take some action shots of Brooke and Laura in the pool.

A lovely new tradition

When I was pregnant with Brooke at my baby shower in Tucson my mother gave me two dresses in a bag.  The first thing I saw upon opening the bag was a picture of me wearing one dress at 7 months old.  The two dresses were hand crocheted by her mother, my grandmother, for me.  Now Brooke gets to wear these beautiful dresses at 7 months old and I am saving the dresses and the pictures.  If in the future there is a girl grand-baby it would be wonderful to see her wear these as well.  Thank you again Mom for the memory and for inspiring me to start this new tradition.
