Merry Christmas – It’s A Girl!

Merry Christmas!  Yesterday, Laura and I had our Christmas day, as I am working all day today.  We had a wonderful day, very fun and relaxing.  I even made a turkey with all the sides (with the help of Laura, of course).  We also got to open our gifts up, one of my favorite activities yesterday because under the tree was a very special gift you see…

Laura and I had decided to find out the sex of our baby to be.  She went on Friday, December 23 for her next ultrasound — the 20 week one at which they can determine the sex — and asked the sonographer to place a pink or blue bow (for a girl or boy, respectively) into a small box and seal it.  Laura brought the box home, decorated it nicely, and placed it under the tree.  Our last gift to open was this present from our child to be.  Needless to say, we are very happy parents to be and wanted to not only say, “Merry Christmas!”, but also “It’s a Girl!”

Laura’s Christmas Concert

Laura is a member of the Hampton Roads Metro Band and throughout the year they have several free concerts for the people of the Hampton Roads area.  Tonight they played their Christmas concert and it was quite enjoyable.

XMas Lights

In keeping with the spirit of Christmas and using as much electricity as possible, this past weekend when Veronica and Karl were here visiting, we put up our Christmas lights outside.  Karl and Veronica both were a big help in hanging the lights and keeping me from falling off the roof.

Uterine Dust

Bad thing about having a resident for a husband: He works too hard and has to stay up for 33 hours on an ICU rotation.  Not so bad for me as it is for him.  Add into that not eating or drinking for 14 hours – “A new record” AJ says.

Good thing about having a resident for a husband:  When my parents come to town they get to see our baby at 17 weeks on ultrasound in the ED, preformed by AJ of course.  🙂

Here is a video of the baby flipping over and kicking up what I called uterine “dust”.  It is exciting to see new things every time we do a new ultrasound.  This time you can really see the baby’s spine, all the bones, and even fingernails.  ENJOY!
